What is Confirmation
1983 Code of Canon Law
CAN. 879 The Sacrament of confirmation strengthens the baptized and obliges them more firmly to be witnesses of Christ by word and deed and to spread and defend the faith. It imprints a character, enriches by the gift of the Holy Spirit the baptized continuing on the path of Christian initiation, and binds them more perfectly to the Church.
Catechism of the Council of Trent Confirmation is Distinct from Baptism As there should be a new and distinct kind of Sacrament when the soul has to encounter any new difficulty, it may easily be perceived that as we require the grace of Baptism to form the mind unto faith, so is it also of the utmost advantage that the souls of the faithful be strengthened by a different grace, to the end that they be deterred by no danger, or fear of pains, tortures or death, from the confession of the true faith.
Saint Ann Confirmation Preparation
Preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation At Saint Ann Catholic Church, we begin preparing our youth for the sacrament of Confirmation as soon as they exit 5th grade Childrens Religious Education (CRE). From 6th through 8th grade they continue with the Faith and Life curriculum they have studied through elementary school, but while intentionally working toward the goal of readying themselves to receive the sacrament of Confirmation.
Once they enter 9th grade, the youth begin reaching the age at which the diocese typically allows them to receive the sacrament of Confirmation. At this point the youth take a more active role in pursuing their own path, choosing the subjects of faith which they believe will better prepare them for reception of Confirmation. Once they receive the sacrament of Confirmation, Faith Formation continues to help them learn to cooperate with the graces of Confirmation as they prepare to become fully indepenent members of productive society.
Sacramental Preparation Saint Ann Catholic Church offers year round Sacramental Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Once the youth has discerned readiness for the sacrament of Confirmation, they will be invited to enter into this five week course where they will learn all the particulars which relate to the sacrament of Confirmation. Once this course is finished, they will participate in an exit discernment at which time they will make their decision to receive the sacrament then or at a later time.
According to Diocesan policy, in order for a youth to attend Sacramental Preparation, either a parent or their sponsor must be present with them in each class. Parents must be virtus certified to attend.

The Fellowship of the Unashamed
I am part of the "Fellowship of the Unashamed." The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I am finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, cheap givinng and dwarfed goals. I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I now live by presence, lean by faith, love by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by power. My pace is set, my gait is fast, my goal is Heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions few, my Guide reliable, my mission clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, deterred, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in teh presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I am a Catholic. I must go until Heaven returns, give until I drop, preach until all know, and work until He comes. And when He comes to get His own, He will have no problem recognizing me. My colors will be clear.
