Pre-k (4 yr old) through 5th grade-
Pre-K classes/Allelu: Socialization is of critical importance in the year prior to Kindergarten, the lessons in the four-old level of Allelu! focus especially on the relational aspects of our faith. Children learn about how they relate to God, who is himself a communion of persons. We explore the concept of family, first as the community within our home, and then in the larger context of the parish family. The relationship between God and his people is also discussed through the stories of Jesus' early life and ministry. Attention is also given to how children are called to relate to others, including their peers and the community at large.
Kindergarten/Spirit of Truth: Students are introduced to the loving goodness of the Blessed Trinity, they meet the members of the Holy Family, and they learn who the saints are and what they teach us.
2nd grade/Faith and Life: Preparation for the first reception of the sacraments of Penance and Holy Communion, with the law of God and salvation history as background. The lesson emphasizes God's mercy and love. Covers Creation, the Covenant with Moses, the Ten Commandments, Redemption, Forgiveness of Sins, and the Mass.
3rd grade/Faith and Life: God's plan of salvation, from creation to the Incarnation and Redemption to the birth of the Church at Pentecost and our life in the Church. Special emphasis on the importance of Confession, Communion and the Mass.
4th grade/Faith and Life: God's plan to save his people from sin (Salvation History), how we participate in that plan, and the many ways God helps us in our pilgrimage on earth to Heaven through his word, his law, and his Church.

The first moment of conversion for any child begins in the Catholic environment established within the home. The principle aim of religious education is Heaven; that is to lead our children to Heaven. The family, especially parents, are the natural primary figures of religious instruction for their children in lieu of any external instruction offfered by the parish community. It is the Baptismal commitment of the parent/guardian to pass on the Deposit of Faith-teachings of Jesus Christ. The principle aim of all religious instructions (catechesis) is to assist the child in developing an active and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. In order to provide the most frutiful and effective means of transmitting the faith to our children, the parish serves as an advocate for the Catholic development of your child. The Diocese of Fort Worth, has laid out an instructional step by step process on how to implement a whole family religious education process that actively involves both parents and the parish catechetical commnity at large. For more information on this process, please contact the DRE.
If you are using the Faith and Life curriculum, please be sure to pick up a copy of the syllabus when you register your child for home based catechesis.
