St. Ann Catholic Church is a member of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth. Our parish community extends a welcome to all. Protestants and non-confirmed Catholics are encouraged to join us for mass. Please keep in mind that we do practice closed communion. Crossing your arms over your chest during communion will tell the Eucahristic minister or priest that you are not receiving Holy Communion today. They will instead offer you special blessing. This will allow you to fully experience the mass while respecting our practice of closed communion.
In 1971, 48 families of this area, with the permission of Bishop John J. Cassatta, formed the first Catholic church in Burleson.
Meeting for a short time at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, the growing congregation soon needed a larger meeting place; Mass was celebrated by Fr. James Boyle at the United Methodist Church for two years.
A parish hall was built in 1973, and Fr. Michael Irwin celebrated Mass there until 1975, when Fr. Leon J. Flusche was named first resident pastor. On Mother's Day 1979, ground was broken for a new church building. The present facility was dedicated on July 26, 1980, the feast of St. Ann.
Fr. Joseph Pemberton was pastor from 1983 to 1987.
Fr. John Hennessy was pastor from June 1987 to June 2007. Fr. Mel Bessellieu, who came to us from Pilot Point in July 2007, was pastor of St. Ann for fifteen years until August 2022. Our current pastor is Fr. Reehan Soosai Antony, SAC.
In February of 1998 the mortgage on the church building was retired.
In early 2000, plans were drawn up for a multi phase enlargement of the parish facilities. In November of that year was the groundbreaking for Phase I, the Formation and Ministry building which was completed and dedicated in September 2001. In April 2010 reconstruction of the parish hall commenced.
